ANIMALS DON’T WAGE WARS, YET THEY ARE OFTEN – ALONG WITH INNOCENT HUMAN CIVILIANS – WORST AFFECTED!
Fleeing with Their Pets:
“Some held their children in their arms, while others clutched their beloved pets — the cats and dogs they could not leave behind amid the barrage of attacks coming from Russia. Those fleeing the capital of Kyiv by car, roads were congested with traffic that stretched for miles. Those on foot rushed to local subway stations and bus routes, holding their pets in carriers. On social media, Romanian animal rescue charity Casa lui Patrocle, which is based in the city of Suceava — around 25 miles from the Ukraine border — vowed to help families fleeing with their pets, writing in a Facebook post that it would provide veterinary assistance to anyone who entered the country.”
Leaving Pets Behind:
While others are leaving behind possessions and pets fleeing without knowing where to go –
“Olga Pavlusik, her boyfriend Bohdan Begey, and their dog left their home in the town of western Ukraine after hearing about the invading force. They don’t know where they are going.”
Staying with Pets:
“I’m staying because of my dogs, I’ll never leave them, it’s not even an option,” says a South African in Kyiv, Ukraine, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “special military operation” in the country.
