Ang Animal Ko Protektado (ANGKOP) was founded in July 2019 and constitutes a non-profit, non-governmental organization that promotes animal welfare.
Founders, Doctor Joseph De Guzman, Joms Lesaguis, Khaleel Vesagas, and Rodolfo Rodrigo were friends long before establishing ANGKOP.
It was a typical dinner at Noventa Restaurant in Quezon City where they usually hang out, when the thought of doing something worthy together, came up. A casual conversation of friends wanting to put meaning into what they all like and love doing. Chilling and brainstorming over a few bottles of beer, Doc Joseph got back from his seat from a bathroom break when Kajoms blurted out his idea – to finally put a structure and organize the random medical services and assistance they’ve been giving for free for years to anyone seeking help for their pets. Everyone bought the idea right away.
The next thing they knew, they were cracking their brains out for the company name. Driving along the street of Edsa, Doc Joseph and KaJoms came up with a few names before finally finding a perfect name representing their mission and vision – Ang Animal Ko Protektado and to be abbreviated as “ANGKOP.”
“Ang Animal Ko,” represents the group of veterinarians and animal lovers joining hands for their animals. “Protektado” means to ensure animal well-being. And, “ANGKOP” translates to being appropriate, right, correct, and suitable in English and this is how the organization is functioning.
The organization has been successfully operating since 2019.
