ANGKOP AT MUSEO PAMBATA

“Museo Pambata – where learning begins and the fun never ends.” That’s what we have experienced by being there last October 11 together with other animal welfare groups. We definitely enjoyed the museum but we were actually there for a special project. We were part of the initiative to lower the number of unwanted litters and pets in the areas by addressing the root cause of the problem- unspayed and unneutered pets.

One of our volunteers, Karen Toyoshima reached out to Doc Joseph De Guzman II and invited us to be part of this meaningful project – Free Spay/Neuter Service for the fur babies within the area, mostly stray cats and dogs. We delightedly accepted the invitation!

Our very own licensed Veterinarian, Doc Sid Padua contributed her skills and expertise and performed in spaying/neutering the pets. While one of our members, Ronald assisted the staff by demonstrating and guiding them on how to restrain the pets and have them ready to be spayed/neutered.

It was a learning experience and a fun experience for them (though we’ve been doing these things too in our projects/missions) to be working with other animal welfare groups and to know that the Museo serves as a home for some of the stray animals. Instead of sending them to shelters, they allow the animals to visit or stay in the place. They organized this project for them because they considered taking care of animals’ health and condition.

We are always looking forward to projects like this. It is a perfect opportunity for animal welfare groups to work together, help one another, and collaborate towards the welfare and protection of animals.

SPAY AND NEUTER

There’s currently an overpopulation of dogs and cats and unfortunately, some of them fall victim to animal abuse and cruelty.  Most of them become strays, left in animal control facilities, unclaimed, unadopted, then euthanized.  In some cases, pets get pregnant, owners can’t afford to feed or own additional pets, thus, left unattended or become stray dogs or cats.  We conduct a free spay and neuter service that can prevent all these from happening.  Pet owners who are willing to have their pets spayed and neutered but cannot afford spay and neuter services can do this now for free.

We are consistent with, drive, and promote Animal Welfare Act (RA 8485) and Responsible Ownership Act (RA 9482) and we want to part and be of help. Together, we can help curb the overpopulation of strays and protect the animals from abuse.
