A FREE ANTI-RABIES VACCINATION, SPAY AND NEUTER MISSION @ SAN MIGUEL, BULACAN

OUR MISSION CONTINUES

A FREE ANTI-RABIES VACCINATION, SPAY AND NEUTER MISSION @ SAN MIGUEL, BULACAN

A new bunch of fur babies; vaccinated against rabies and spayed/neutered from our recent mission on March 5, 2022, to be exact, 60 and 82, respectively.

It wasn’t the first time that we co-organized events with Ms. Emerliza Gasparin of Animal Care San Miguel Bulacan Group.  She’s been supporting us and, on many occasions, received our support too.  We worked together from rescue, adopt-a-pet, and missions like this from the past.  We are grateful to have her within our team, we’ve seen her passion and dedication for AW.  We know that she’ll always do the best that she can for them.

We were joined by more volunteers on this mission.  We are fortunate to be assisted and supported by the team of Councilor Jhong Reyes and Glen Garcia Lopez from the Municipality of San Miguel, Bulacan.  We would like to thank everyone who was there, especially the fur parents who prioritized the health of their fur babies and would like to help the community address issues caused by not having pets vaccinated against rabies, not spayed or neutered.

We’ve been getting a lot of positive responses and support for our Free Spay and Neuter Project and our Free Anti-Rabies Vaccine Drive.  We apologize as we limit slots for every mission or project to make sure that the project will be executed efficiently and effectively.

It would be nice if you collaborate with us on a project like this as it will not only be beneficial for you and your pet (s) but for your community and other pets too.  Feel free to contact us so we can guide you through the process.

But if you only intend to bring your pet to a Free Spay/Neuter or Anti-Rabies Vaccine organized by our team, all you need is to like and follow our FB Page – ANGKOP ANG ANIMAL KO PROTEKDO and register online as soon as we post the schedule for our next project.  You may also send us a message and we will let you know if we can accommodate your request in our clinic, instead.

We hope that you aren’t discouraged or frustrated if we’re unable to reply or address your inquiries on time.  Please understand that we’ve been replying to numerous prior inquiries and requests.  Rest assured that we are doing the most to be with you and your pet’s concern, ASAP.

Let’s fervently pray for more love, care, and understanding for AW Group as we all work together towards the reason why we’re all here, animal protection and care!

WHY INSURE YOUR PET?

WHY INSURE YOUR PET?

Pet insurance helps protect your pet and your wallet. When you want the best medical care for your cat and dog, insurance can help.  It can give you peace of mind knowing you will be financially protected in the event your dog or cat suffers an illness or injury.

  • Pet insurance can save you money in the long run.
  • Pet insurance could result in improved care.
  • Does not discriminate against any breed or age of the pet.
  • Prevents dipping into the family’s emergency fund.

If your pet comes down with an illness, or if your vet discovers something amiss at a regular checkup, you can expect your vet bills to go up substantially.

The biggest costs come from unexpected emergencies and surgeries – which is where pet insurance can be a literal lifesaver.

A pet insurance policy works just like a regular life or health insurance. The main function of this policy is to keep you from losing money due to unexpected pet-related expenses. These expenditures include veterinary bills, illness, accidents, and even burials.

To put it simply, pet insurance can provide you with the peace of mind and confidence to make better health care decisions that are in the best interest of your pet. By providing you with protection from the financial strain of unexpected medical costs, pet insurance gives you the ability to focus on what’s really important—being there for your pet when your pet needs you the most.

From Stray To Community Service Dogs, Q.C.

From Stray To Community Service Dogs, Q.C.

Our voices are being heard; beautiful things are happening slowly but surely the way we wanted them to be.  Our prayers are being heard as our forum with Quezon City Government materialized – Rescued dogs in QC are now being trained as community service dogs.

Former stray dogs are selected, trained, and certified by experts to become emotional support and community service dogs. While the city government also continues to collaborate with us and with other animal groups to increase pet adoption.

Sorsogon has initiated a similar program last year.  We hope for more LGUs to be inspired and motivated to do the same thing in their community.

More HOPE, HOME, and LOVE FOR STRAYS.

We hope for everyone to realize that stray dogs can be an immense asset to society. Programs like this will benefit both animals and people. It will change people’s attitudes towards stray dogs by emphasizing their societal value as service dogs. It will decrease community problems for strays and bite cases and for poor animals, they will be free from cruelty and euthanasia.

Through a change in perspective about stray dogs, people would also consider adopting strays as companion animals.

This is one of the reasons why we shouldn’t stop – Be the VOICE OF THE VOICELESS!!!

Healthy Human Food for Dogs

Healthy Human Food for Dogs

Many human foods are safe and nutritious for dogs. However, we should generally feed our dogs these foods in moderation, as larger quantities can lead to health issues.  It is also important to consider your pet’s existing health conditions.

  1. Carrot – chewing on carrots can help remove plaque from their teeth and otherwise promote good dental health. Carrots prevent runny stool. The high fiber content of carrots will help bulk up your dog’s stool. Eyesight is improved due to the beta-carotene.

  1. Salmon, shrimp, and tuna are all safe for dogs to eat and are good sources of protein. It is important to cook fish before feeding it to a dog, as uncooked fish can contain harmful parasites.

  1. Salmon and tuna are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help keep a dog’s immune system, coat, and skin healthy.

  1. Chicken – plain, boiled chicken with no seasoning is a good option when a dog has an upset stomach. Cooked chicken bones are a choking hazard as they can break up and bock or even tear the windpipe or digestive tract. Chicken prepared in the correct way can offer the following health benefits.

  1. Pumpkin – It boasts an ample number of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. These aid in the health of the urinary tract. Pumpkin seeds and skins both contain certain oils. These oils will help maintain the health of your dog’s urinary tract.

  1. Peanut Butter – Unsalted peanut butter with no added sugar or sweeteners is safe for dogs to eat in moderation. Peanut butter contains many beneficial elements, including vitamins E and B, niacin, healthful fats, and protein. However, it is vital to check that the peanut butter does not contain a sweetener called xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs.

  1. Pork – Unseasoned, cooked pork is safe for dogs to eat. However, they should only consume small portions of pork, as the high-fat content is hard for dogs to digest, and it can cause inflammation and pancreatitis. Refrain from feeding dogs bacon or processed ham, due to the high salt contents.

  1. BananasDogs can eat bananas in moderation. They are full of magnesium, which is important for good bone health. Due to their high sugar content, bananas should only be an occasional treat for dogs.

  1. Green beans – Plain green beans are a good, healthful snack for dogs. They are a source of protein and also contain calcium, iron, and vitamin K. Avoid seasoning and chop up the beans first to prevent choking.

  1. Watermelon – is safe for dogs to eat, but it is important to remove all the seeds first, as these can block the intestines.

  1. Cucumbers – are a safe, low-calorie snack for dogs, and they can be a good option for those who are overweight. Cucumbers also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin K.

  1. Dairy products – such as milk, cheese, and plain yogurt, are safe for dogs to have in very small quantities. Eating too much dairy can cause digestive problems. This is because dogs have low levels of lactase, a digestive enzyme that breaks down the sugars in milk.

Consult a veterinarian before giving human foods to dogs with:

  • diabetes
  • weight issues
  • food sensitivities
  • liver or kidney disease
  • other health concerns

A Man with A Big Heart for Animals

A Man with A Big Heart for Animals

“I know a lot of individuals argue with me that animals are less important than humans, why bother? But I’m right to ask myself: what man who hates animals can really love people?”  – Stefan Mandachi

Volunteers step up and offer their hearts (and home) as thousands flee Ukraine and Stefan Mandachi was one of them.

Stefan Mandachi, a businessman who lives in Suceava, a city about 30 miles south of the Siret border, has converted a large ballroom at the hotel he owns into a refugee reception center and is offering private hotel rooms for free to the displaced.

“I feel the need to help, it’s my duty to help,” said Mandachi, who is also offering free food for Ukrainian refugees from his fast-food chain. “I have locals who speak Ukrainian — we are united to help them.” He told the reporter in an interview.

Mandachi stressed that the priority for him is the cases of refugees with dogs or cats and that by Monday an area with 30 pens and cages will be built for the accommodation of “refugee dogs” where about 40-50 animals would enter, if they do not bite, and even if the number is exceeded, solutions will be found for these pets.

He stated that at the request of the authorities he is willing to provide a free event hall of 1,000 square meters.

More people and businesses are pooling resources to provide the refugees with everything they need. Let us all continue to pray every day for peace, for more people to lend support to those in Ukraine.

Can Cats Live 30 Years?

Can cats live 30 years?

Even more!!! Rubble died at the age of 31.

The average lifespan for a pet cat is probably around 13 to 14 years though it varies.

A well-cared-for cat can live more than 15 years like Rubble, the world’s oldest cat died at 31.  The precious gift Michelle Heritage received during her 20th birthday.

Well cared for and treated like Michelle’s offspring, Rubble lived a happy life.

Cats can have a lot of the same emotions that we do, including liking to be around us and enjoying our presence.  They are capable of enjoying relationships with us and even love us.

Russia Attacks Ukraine – Pet Owners to Leave, Stay, or Flee with Pets?

ANIMALS DON’T WAGE WARS, YET THEY ARE OFTEN – ALONG WITH INNOCENT HUMAN CIVILIANS – WORST AFFECTED!

Fleeing with Their Pets:

“Some held their children in their arms, while others clutched their beloved pets — the cats and dogs they could not leave behind amid the barrage of attacks coming from Russia.  Those fleeing the capital of Kyiv by car, roads were congested with traffic that stretched for miles. Those on foot rushed to local subway stations and bus routes, holding their pets in carriers. On social media, Romanian animal rescue charity Casa lui Patrocle, which is based in the city of Suceava — around 25 miles from the Ukraine border — vowed to help families fleeing with their pets, writing in a Facebook post that it would provide veterinary assistance to anyone who entered the country.”

Leaving Pets Behind:

While others are leaving behind possessions and pets fleeing without knowing where to go –

“Olga Pavlusik, her boyfriend Bohdan Begey, and their dog left their home in the town of western Ukraine after hearing about the invading force. They don’t know where they are going.”

Staying with Pets:

“I’m staying because of my dogs, I’ll never leave them, it’s not even an option,” says a South African in Kyiv, Ukraine, after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a “special military operation” in the country.

Are CATS Lactose Intolerant?

Are CATS Lactose Intolerant?
Just like people, cats can be lactose intolerant.

To digest lactose, a milk sugar, the human and feline digestive systems must contain the enzyme lactase. We have plenty of this enzyme in our systems at birth, and it helps us thrive on our mother’s milk.

But as we grow up, it’s normal for people and cats to begin producing less lactase. Less lactase means less ability to digest lactose. The result may eventually be lactose intolerance.

Many cats do love the taste of cow’s milk and other dairy products, which prompts their owners to give it as a treat. In cats with very little or no lactase enzymes, the body is unable to digest the milk and instead attempts to expel it from the system. The undigested lactose sugars in the intestinal tract begin to draw all sorts of bacteria. The sugar then ferments, causing adverse reactions by the stomach and gastrointestinal system. This manifests as stomach acid and painful gas in the cat.

Symptoms of Lactose Intolerance in Cats:

  • Excessive gas
  • Abdominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Polydipsia (increased thirst)
  • Dehydration
  • Increased heart rate
  • Dry gums

What Kind of Treats Are Safe to Give My Cat Instead of Milk?

Your cat’s dietary needs are pretty simple. She needs to drink fresh, clean water daily, and eat nutritionally-appropriate cat food that contains animal proteins (since cats are obligate carnivores—meaning their diet must contain meat).

If you are going to give your cat milk, consider it a treat, and start with a very small amount to test for reactions.

The bottom line is that most cats are lactose intolerant and although they still seem drawn to dairy products, it is not worth the risk of an unhappy digestive system. It’s best to find healthier and more enjoyable options for a special treat.
