ANGKOP with PAWSsion Project for a Free Spay and Neuter Service

ANGKOP with PAWSsion Project for a Free Spay and Neuter Service

We are proud and thankful to be part of a meaningful way to welcome summer as we joined PAWSsion Project last Sunday, March 29 as they launched their PAWSsion Summer Camp  – Free Spay and Neuter Service at Ayala Malls Vertis North

This project made fur parents of 104 dogs and cats happy as their fur babies will have a happier and healthier life.  More and more fur parents are responding to our call for responsible pet ownership and we’re also getting a lot of assistance and support from sponsors/animal lovers.  Our team was even lucky to meet one – the business magnate, the well-known animal lover/proud Aspin daddy, Fernando Zobel de Ayala who graced the event with his presence and support.

By working together, by collaborating, we can do more, we can do better for animal welfare and protection.  Let us continue creating a strong and growing alliance with other animal welfare groups.  Again, thank you to PAWSsion Project for this opportunity, and Kudos to your team for a job well done!

Cat and Dog Facts That Will Make You Smile

Cat and Dog Facts That Will Make You Smile

Pet owners say their animal pal makes them smile more than once a day.  We totally know that!

Here are fun facts about your fur/paw buddy that will again, make you smile!

Cats don’t meow at each other.

Meow is a communication tool reserved exclusively for humans.

Dogs lick their feet to help them remember

It’s perfectly normal for your dog to lick their paws. Not only is it your furry friend’s way of self-cleaning, but it’s also a way for them to remember where they’ve been throughout the day.

Cat whiskers aren’t just for cuteness

Cat Whiskers contain a sensory organ called a proprioceptor, which is constantly communicating information about their surroundings to their muscular and nervous systems. Cats use their whiskers to judge distance and space, they can sense even the slightest change in their environment.

Dogs have unique nose prints

Each has a unique pattern of ridges and creases, like a human fingerprint.

Red Cross, Humane Society Team Delivers Life-Saving Food & Supplies For Animals In Ukraine

In times like these, we know that not only people, but animals also need help!

The Romanian Red Cross Delivers Life-Saving Food & Supplies For Animals In Ukraine In Partnership With Humane Society International.

To care for the animals caught up during the Russian invasion, Romanian Red Cross will, for the first time ever, add life-saving aid for animals to its humanitarian aid transport.

This is to help address the worsening animal welfare crisis as hundreds of animal shelters, veterinary clinics, and rescue centers, as well as thousands of families with pets who remain in Ukraine, are struggling to find food for the animals in their care and providing veterinary care for injured or sick animals.

How to Safely Greet a Dog You Don’t Know

How to Safely Greet a Dog You Don’t Know

Not all dogs want to be approached by strangers. Like us, people, dogs have rules too!

However, unlike us, dogs can’t tell you if they would rather you left them alone. They rely on their owner to protect or speak for them from unwanted attention.  Pet owners are either unaware, unknowledgeable or away to do this for them.  Thus, accidents happen!

Not because you are a dog lover or a dog owner, you can always at anytime approach, touch a dog.  For a dog, you’re still a stranger.  A frightened or reactive dog isn’t going to suddenly change their emotional state just because of how friendly you are. You could end up bitten by a dog that feels threatened by your unwelcome intrusion.

Even people with the best intentions make mistakes when greeting dogs, they don’t know. Keep these tips in mind, and you’re likely to have a lot more furry friends:

  1. Ask the owner, get his or her permission. It’s not enough to read the dog’s body language, there could be many reasons why the owner would prefer you stay back.

  1. Allow the dog to approach you. Let the dog decide whether or not they’d like to meet you.

  1. Greet With Dog-Appropriate Actions. Once the dog approaches, it’s finally time to greet them.
    • Avoid direct eye contact and staring.
    • Don’t come in from overhead or directly behind a dog. Turn slightly sideways or crouch down.
    • Don’t encourage bad behavior.
    • Learn how to read dog body language.
      • A happy dog wanting to be touched
        • An open mouth
        • Relaxed ears
        • “Soft” eyes
        • Loose body with a loose wagging tail
        • Will approach you for interaction, leaning on you or seeking out touch
      • A dog who is unsure about or might not enjoy being pet might show
        • Closed mouth
        • Lip licking
        • Obvious blinking
        • Turning their head away
        • Ears pinned back against their head
        • Wide eyes with the whites showing
        • Trying to back away from you or hide
    • Use Caution with dogs on the Loose. Let them come to you and keep your body language calm and non-threatening.

Free Anti-Rabies Vaccine and Spay/Neuter for Pets – Lancaster, Cavite

Free Anti-Rabies Vaccine and Spay/Neuter for Pets – Lancaster, Cavite

The weather wasn’t friendly last Saturday, March 12.  It was hot and humid early in the morning then there was rain in the afternoon.  But gratefully, we accomplished 112 free anti-rabies vaccines and 112 spay/neuter for pets of Lancaster New City, Gen. Trias, Cavite.

The team, volunteers, and the fur parents with their fur babies were very patient that day as it was a bit challenging for everyone due to the weather and organizing concerns.  We get a dose of these challenges from time to time and this is when we say, “it isn’t easy” but this is also when we say,

The team, volunteers, and the fur parents with their fur babies were very patient that day as it was a bit challenging for everyone due to the weather and organizing concerns.  We get a dose of these challenges from time to time and this is when we say, “it isn’t easy” but this is also when we say,  “I am proud and grateful of this team!”

“Everyone has shown their passion, dedication, and patience to smoothly accomplish the mission.  We are touched by how the pet owners managed to ensuring a healthier and better life for their pets.  It was again a fruitful day, a successful mission for us!

We are rewarded by the pet owners  gratitude through their warm smiles and endless “THANK YOUs.”

Prevention is better than cure. It is important that we work together to avoid the dangers of animal bites and rabies infection within the community. We will continue with our advocacy and we hope that you’ll join us on our next mission!

We would like to thank the residents of Lancaster for their warm welcome and cooperation.

This project wouldn’t be possible without the initiative and assistance of ALPHA KAPPA RHO LANCASTER CHAPTER PNP – thank you for your trust in the team and we look forward to having more projects with you!

Ukrainians Are Only Leaving If Their Pets Can Come Too

PETS ARE FAMILY

Ukrainians Are Only Leaving If Their Pets Can Come Too

Ukrainians are grabbing their pets as they seek shelter underground or flee to neighboring countries.  Many are refusing to leave

without their pets by their side.  Some neighboring countries are allowing Ukrainians to bring pets across borders without veterinary paperwork. We can’t be stopped when we know deep in our hearts that they are not just pets but are part of our family!  We bring them with us, we will do everything for them!

Our pets give us a lot to be thankful for.  They remind us that we have an obligation and responsibility to protect and care for all life.  They teach us valuable lessons like responsibility, trust, compassion, respect, and patience.
